MAIN INLET VALVES (MIV)

Main Inlet Valves (MIV) are critical components in hydroelectric power plants, positioned between the penstock and the turbine. Their primary function is to control the flow of water entering the turbine and to isolate the turbine during maintenance or emergency shutdowns. These valves are designed to withstand high water pressure and are typically operated hydraulically. MIVs play a vital role in ensuring the safety and operational integrity of the plant, as they prevent uncontrolled water flow that could damage equipment or pose risks to personnel.
