ASME B16.34 is one of the most important global standards governing the design, materials, pressure–temperature ratings, testing, and marking of industrial valves. It applies to flanged, threaded, and welding‑end valves used in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, water treatment, and general industrial applications.


The standard ensures that valves can safely withstand the pressure and temperature limits of their assigned class ratings—Class 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500. It defines the minimum wall thickness, body design rules, allowable stresses, and material properties required for safe operation.
